Paul went to meet Kobita and her family the next day. He was in his blue trousers and a grey T-shirt. Kobita's mother, Ms Shahana was a shy woman and she was reluctant to come in front of Paul. But Paul greeted her warmly in his newly learnt Bangla, "Kemon achen?" Ms Shahana loved hearing a foreigner speak in Bangla. She welcomed Paul to her house. Kobita started talking to Paul. She wanted him to write something for her school magazine. As they were talking, Ms Shahana prepared quite a number of Bangladeshi dishes. She served him lunch at noon. Bangladesh is already experiencing the adverse impacts of global warming and climate change. Summers are becoming hotter and the monsoon is irregular. There are untimely heavy rainfalls causing water logging and landslides. Among other impacts are frequent floods, river erosion, crop damage due to drought, prolonged cold spells, salinity of water in the coastal areas etc.

Climate change has already started bringing disasters to Bangladesh. We remember the damage caused by the Aila in 2009. Climate change victims are increasing in number every day. The number of families and villages that lose their homes permanently to rivers every year is one of the highest in Bangladesh. An increasing number of people are suffering damage or loss to their property and some time life due to disasters caused by climate change. Following the climate change, the river bank and coastal erosion are increasing at an alarming rate. It is estimated that a 45-centimetre rise of sea-level will flood almost 10.9 percent of our territory and will make 5.5 million people of our coastal regions homeless.

The pioneer of Bangladeshi modern art, Zainul Abedin was born in Kishoregonj on 29 December, 1914. He was a great artist of Bangladesh. He is widely acclaimed for his Bengal Famine Sketches. Through a series of sketches, he showed the harsh famine of 1940 and its sinister face through the skeletal figures of the people destined to die from starvation. He depicted these extremely shocking pictures with human compassion. He produced a series of brush and ink drawing which later became iconic images of human sufferings. He graduated from Government Art College and became first class first. He is also considered the founding father of art. For his outstanding talent in art, he is referred to as "Shilpacharya". He founded Zainul Abedin Shangrahashala in Mymensingh.

Our national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam was born on the 24th May, 1899. His father died when he was only nine years old. So, he had to start a very struggling life from his very childhood. Nazrul completed his primary education in 1909 and joined a local Maktab as a teacher in the same year. Naztul again got himself admitted in a high school of Bardwan in class six. But he could not continue his studies for financial crisis and left for Asansole. He had to work there in a bread factory for his livelihood. In Asansole, Nazrul came in contact with a police sub-inspector, Kazi Rafizullah. Nazrul requested him to make arrangement for his education. In 1914 Kazi Rafizullah sent Nazrul to his village home at Kazirshimla in Mymensing. There he got admitted in Darirampur High School in class seven. Nazrul read in that school only for one year and left Kazirshimla. On returning home, Nazrul got himself admitted in Siarasole High School in class eight in 1915 and continued his studies till 1917. While he was a student of class ten in 1917, he joined the army putting an end to his formal education. After the First World War, Nazrul came back to Kolkata in 1920.
